However we should not be afraid to work to change unjust laws. The laws United States provide means to change laws. That’s the benefit of living in a Constitutional Republic.
9. Where does the term Zo-ma-rah come from?
Zo-ma-rah was inspired by an article originally published in the Nauvoo Neighbor and the reprinted in the Millennial Star(1845) and Dialogue(1969).1 This article entitled "One Hundred years Hence. 1945," contains the description of a dream about the Millennium after Christ returns. In this dream the world had ended about 1895-1905. Christ is the grand King and other biblical and LDS prophets are rulers. In this dream it mentions the Zo-ma-rah or Pure News which is a news organization during the millennium.
It is from this article that the name and idea of Zo-ma-rah came from. It is quite obvious that the world didn’t actually end by 1895 however the concept of this news organization was interesting. It is our goal to operate a news system using this name and purpose to be a reliable news source in the Deseret region.
In the article that introduces Zo-ma-rah it says "Zo-ma-rah or Pure News." Based on this it can be assumed that Zo-ma-rah means pure news.
In reference to Mormonism the meaning of this word is much deeper. The word Zomar appears in two non-canon Mormon sources. This word appears to be Adamic(the language Adam spoke, and presumably the language of God according to LDS belief), and means Zion. Also the last part of the word 'ah' could possibly mean holy. In the book 'Mormon Doctrine' by Bruce R. McConkie it states that God's name in Adamic is Ahman, meaning Holy Man. It is can be conjectured that the Adamic word holy is ah and man is man. By combining the Adamic words Zomar and Ah the resulting word would be something like Zion Holy, or Holy Zion.
11. What is the purpose of Zo-ma-rah?
Zo-ma-rah has three main purposes.
1. The first purpose of Zo-ma-rah is to provide a news source that is not influenced by big businesses and mass media. For years people have been longing for a news source that presents facts not skewed versions of reality made to appease sponsors and business owners.
2. The second purpose of Zo-ma-rah is to present uplifting and encouraging news. Everyone knows all too well how much violence and death makes up the headlines of today's news. It's time for a news source to present something uplifting and fulfilling.
3. The third purpose is to be the main media outlet for announcements for the Nation of Deseret.
12. Why are Thomas Jefferson and George Washington featured on your website header next to Joseph Smith and Brigham Young?
Thomas Jefferson and George Washington are two of the most recognizable founding fathers of the United States of America. The Nation of Deseret is supporter of the Constitution of the United States. To show our support for these founding principles we have included them on our header.
Joseph Smith, Jr. And Brigham Young were both important figures in the founding of the Deseret region. While Joseph Smith never made it to the Deseret region his role is vital in the creation of principles that allowed Deseret to be created. Brigham Young pioneered the settlement of the Salt Lake Basin and other areas considered part of the Deseret region. We have included them on the header to honor their role in the history of this region.
Both sets of men are important to the history of the Nation of Deseret and he have included them to show that.
