The Council of Fifty is the primary organizational body of the Nation of Deseret. The Council of Fifty gets it's namesake from a council that was established by Joseph Smith in 1844. However the current Council of Fifty is not related to that previous council.
The Council of Fifty is a body composed of approximately fifty people that are in charge of organizing the efforts of the Nation of Deseret. The Council is lead by a Standing Chairman.
What does the Council of Fifty do?
The Council of Fifty works to coordinate the different branches of the Nation of Deseret. Each member of the Council is in charge of one committee. Each committee is then in charge of different realms of the organization.
