What is the Nation of Deseret?

The Nation of Deseret is an organization that is working to make the "Deseret Region" self sufficient and economically stable. Right now is a time of economic problems. Because of these problems people are losing their jobs and homes. Our goal is to bring people, businesses, politics, and other organizations together in order to create a self sufficient region.

It is important to know that the Nation of Deseret is not an independent nation nor is it a movement to create an independent nation. Instead it is as stated previously, a movement to create a self sufficient region.

By becoming self sufficient we won't have to depend on outside sources to provide for our needs. If we can provide for our own needs then when outside ares experience hard times we don't have to. If people outside our region are losing their jobs, people inside our region can have their pick of jobs.

We don't have to let Wall Street determine if we will be a prosperous people. We can bring a new era of prosperity and success but only if we work together. If we can work together and build the Nation of Deseret then we can accomplish these goals and more.

What is the Deseret Region?

Historically the Deseret Region was an area in the western United States. Originally proposed by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints who settled the area in the mid-1800s. At one point a provisional government was set up known as the State of Deseret. This government held some control in the region. The State of Deseret eventually sought statehood in the United States.

However not many years later the United States government organized the northern part of the region as the Utah Territory. Many of the LDS leaders of the State of Deseret became leaders of the Utah Territory. As a result the State of Deseret dissolved.

The Deseret Region as it is currently accepted by the Nation of Deseret organization is roughly similar to its historical boundaries. It is, however, larger because it encompasses all of Idaho and also extends further south. Here is a map of the areas currently accepted as the Deseret Region:

Purpose of the Nation of Deseret

The purpose of Deseret is to form a stable and self sustaining region. This goal is so broad and covers so many different fields that the Nation of Deseret is has been organized to coordinate the effort.

This effort involves many fields including, business, agriculture, politics, financial, and many more.

The Nation of Deseret was founded upon the principle of common consent. This means that the goals of the project will not be forced upon anyone. Instead people, and businesses may choose for themselves to help the Nation of Deseret organization be successful. If people who live in the Deseret Region want to live in a place that is prosperous, and self sufficient then the logical thing to do is support the Nation of Deseret.

Flag

This is the flag of the Nation of Deseret. It is based on historical State of Deseret designs. It consists of thirteen red or white horizontal stripes. In the upper left corner there is an eagle on a white field. The eagle's chest is covered by a beehive. In the eagle's left claw(right to the viewer) is a cannon. In the right claw(left to the viewer) is wheat. The Eagle is holding a ribbon in its mouth. The ribbon contains the words, "Liberty, Justice, Unity" written in the Deseret Alphabet. Above the Eagle is a triangle. Inside the triangle is a six pointed star.

Each part of the flag has a meaning. The eagle represents freedom. The beehive represents the industry needed to fulfill our goals. The cannon represents the power of the rights guaranteed to the people in the US Constitution. The wheat stalks represent agriculture and its importance in becoming a self-sufficient region. The three sides of the triangle represent the three states that are part of the Deseret Region. The six points of the star represent the six states that are only partially included in the Deseret Region.

The color white signifies purity and innocence. Red means hardiness, valour, and bravery.

The Nation of Deseret is not controlled by or affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
